4. Tuesday 02 September practice will be 3:00pm until 5:00pm.
5. Freshman report to school on WED. This is also our first league game. For all new players - practice starts at 3:05. You should get changed in the locker room and then go to the parking lot. Please find a ride with one of the other players. I will also be in the parking lot. I will leave at 3:00.
6. Orders for sweats are due FRIDAY. Please give to Chris Rapp.
Big Things:
That scrimmage was horrific. You practiced for 2 weeks and it looked like you just started yesterday. Please take what you learn on to the field. That is why it is called practice. And practice makes perfect.
Here are the problems:
Support: Maybe 1 - not 3 as we worked on.
Talking: Was anyone listening? This falls until support also.
Help I'm drowning: Did you feel that way when you got the ball and saw the other shirts coming at you? Did you have that first thought of what were your options at ALL times? If you felt like you were drowning - then the answer is probably not. Also lack of support will do this too.
Did the forwards ALWAYS pressure back? nope.
Were the outside mids outside? nope.
Did we try to move the ball consistently in the middle? Yeap..... where did we practice moving the ball? If I remember correctly - it was outside.
Remember: You play the way you practice - you practice the way you play. If you practice your drills slow, then how are you going to play in a game? ...slow....
Fixes:
Support: always and immediate. Quickly not slow.
Show for the ball: That means stepping in front of the other team. Show your teammate where you want the ball.
Talk, Listen and do. Trust your teammates. If you do not trust them - then who can you trust?
Cross the Ball. Enough said about that except - make sure it is a good cross - in front of the player.
